I was 19 when I accepted Jesus as Savior. Like many young people, I set aside my relationship with Christ to pursue my own way throughout my 20s. But during a difficult time, someone invited me to church. That invitation, and my willingness to try something new, became the turning point of my life. I surrendered my will to God and dedicated myself to Him. And oh, how He has blessed me! Today, I am the wife of a pastor, and we serve at Martinsburg First Church of the Nazarene. Plus, I am honored to use my skills and talents to serve the Lord in my position at the Mission.

I grew up on the streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I was caught up in the whirlwind of drug addiction and gang violence. I was the "king" of sinners. I was introduced to the drug culture when I was presented with an opportunity to make some fast money, and a good return for an investment of a few hundred dollars. This sounded like a very good opportunity for a man of 24 years of age. I had no idea of the road that I was about to travel, I spent 38 of my adult life, buying, using, tricking and selling crack cocaine. Little did I know then, that all of the misery, pain and suffering that I was inflicting on my family was the training ground for what GOD had been preparing for, to be a servant to the men and women of our Martinsburg community at large. GOD called me out of Philadelphia four years ago with instructions to "drive south". Here I am today supervisor of the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, where I am able to share my journey of desperation and hopelessness with all of the men who enter into the Men's Ministry Program. All I can say is "to GOD be the Glory".

My life has been tough, I experienced the pain of losing the people I loved the most in this world. And I was angry, hurt, and alone. I could not understand why God would allow me to go through so much. And I allowed myself to become an addict, and drifted further and further. Finally I surrendered my life to Jesus as my Lord & Saviour. He began to heal my heart, tear down strongholds and break the chains of bondage that were destroying my life. By His stripes I have been healed. I was lost but now I'm found. My life is His now and forever.

I came from a broken home , but was afforded the example of a Christian Foster Home. Nightly we met for devotions and knelt together to pray. Church was mandatory and Godly living was expected. Later in life, during the birth of my 5th child I was gripped with conviction, I surrendered my life to the Lord. Today, my relationship with Christ has grown, I seek to serve and please HIM. I am so grateful God never gave up on me as I leaned toward my own understanding.

My life was a constant battle with depression, and after two suicide attempts, I was left feeling completely hopeless. It wasn't until I was in jail that I finally found what I had been searching for. It was there that I gave my life to Jesus, and that decision changed everything.
When I was released, I knew I couldn't go back to my old life and found a new home at the Rescue Mission. It was a humbling experience, but it was what I needed to truly start over.
I'm honored to share my story of redemption and hope with others.
