Interested in Volunteering?

Use Your Time. Share Your Gifts. Help Change a Life.

At the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, volunteers are an important part of the work God is doing in the lives of men, women, and families throughout our community.

Whether you have a few hours to give, a special skill to share, or a church, business, or small group looking for a meaningful way to serve, there is a place for you at the Mission.

Volunteering is about more than completing a task. It is an opportunity to serve others with compassion, build relationships, demonstrate the love of Christ, and help us fulfill the Great Commission by sharing the hope of Jesus with those we serve.

Why Volunteer at the Mission?

Every day, individuals come through our doors looking for help, hope, and a new beginning. Our volunteers come alongside our staff to help create an environment where people are encouraged in their next steps, and introduced to the transforming hope found in Jesus Christ.

When you volunteer, you become part of a ministry committed to being:

  • Christ-Centered — Glorifying God and advancing His Kingdom in everything we do.

  • Servant Leaders — Following the example of Jesus by intentionally serving others.

  • Focused on Transformation — Helping people grow spiritually, personally, and practically.

  • Good Stewards — Using the time, talents, and resources God has entrusted to us wisely.

  • Committed to Excellence — Serving our guests and community with care and integrity.

  • People of Honor — Encouraging, celebrating, and building up those God has placed around us.

Ways You Can Serve

Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Serving or preparing meals

  • Helping organize donated items in our thrift store

  • Serving at our front desk

  • Assisting with special events

  • Organizing donation drives through your church, workplace, or organization

  • Serving alongside a church, Sunday School class, small group, family, or business team

Churches and Groups Are Welcome

We love partnering with local churches that have a desire to serve their community and share Jesus.

Your church, ministry team, youth group, Sunday School class, small group, or other organization can serve together while making a tangible difference in the lives of people right here in our community.

We believe the Mission can be a place where the local church puts faith into action—meeting practical needs, developing relationships, and opening doors for the Gospel.

Your Service Can Make an Eternal Difference

A meal may meet someone's immediate need.

A conversation may remind someone that they are seen.

A prayer may encourage someone who feels hopeless.

A relationship may create an opportunity to share the Gospel.

And a simple act of service may become part of God's work of transforming a life.

You do not have to be an expert to make a difference. You simply need a willingness to serve.

Are You Ready to Get Involved?
